Session 7
Early Warning: The USS Ward Incident

On the morning of December 7, 1941, the first shots of the Pacific War were fired by an old WWI vintage destroyer in the defense of Pearl Harbor. What happened that morning? How did it change history? And what effect did it have on our interpretation of the Pearl Harbor attack? Mr. Burlingame, noted expert and author of Advance Force Pearl Harbor, provided insights into these provocative questions.

Speakers: Mr. Burlingame is a writer for the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. Over the years, he has been involved in the writing of aviation history. He also has been interested in Japanese midget submarines and has published a monumental work on that subject titled Advance Force Pearl Harbor.
