The second day of the workshop opened with a traditional Hawaiian blessing by Kahu Clark and continued with discussions on how Pearl Harbor is currently taught in the US and Japan, the special meaning of history and memory as evoked by the USS Arizona Memorial and the evolution of Pearl Harbor.
Of special interest to the teachers was NPS Historian Daniel Martinez's simulation of the Pearl Harbor attack (above). This detailed interpretive presentation will be available soon to teachers in its entirety as a classroom teaching tool.
Events with special media coverage, either a photo slide show or a video, are noted.
