The Arizona Memorial Museum Association’s mission is to remember and to honor the sacrifice, courage, and sometimes tragic humanity shown by ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances. AMMA’s aim in this section of the website is to provide educational resources and services for teachers and others interested in Pacific region history. Our hope is that by making available AMMA’s distinctive resources and services, a comprehensive understanding can be achieved of this vast geographical area and its place in American, and the world’s, memory. Please read our Education Brochure (PDF) for more information
In the Services section, AMMA presents information on its Interpretive tours for student groups, site-associated activity booklets for youngsters, school-based community service opportunities, professional development workshops for teachers, and videoconferencing programs to bring the experience of Pearl Harbor to the nation and the world.
In the Resources section, AMMA is endeavoring to assemble the rich resources found in eyewitness accounts, photographs, videos, documents, articles and other unique and important records concerning the American, Japanese and Hawaiian experience. Specifically for teachers, we will soon supply a variety of lesson plans listed by grade, topic, and standards. We will also supply links to online resources, and a list of respected books which provide wide-ranging examinations of Pearl Harbor, the war in the Pacific, and the history of leprosy, Hansen’s disease, in Hawaii.
